Question on In Memoriam A.H.H

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering does anyone know what's the significance of In Momoriam A.H.H. by Alfred Tennyson? The only point I wrote down is "In Memoriam stanza: four line iambic tetrameter." I'm wondering what are the other points that I missed out?

  1. I did some research and noted the following: the poem was intended as an elegy, the quatrains resolve themselves in each stanza, there isn't really any single unifying theme, he (Tennyson) reflects philosophically throughout the poem about religion, science, and more can be found in DVC's library of literary criticism online.

    Have a smooth day,

  2. It also shows the changes in his feelings over time, his way of dealing with grief, etc.

  3. According to our glossary, pg. 532-533, "'In Memoriam A. H. H.' is sometimes singled out as the quintessential Victorian poem, perhaps because the theme most common in Victorian poetry is that of loss with its attendant uncertainty."
